Truth ABOUT Immigrants

I created the multi-media and print materials for the campaign and helped coordinate strategy and outreach

Truth ABOUT Immigrants is a community response to the misinformation and misunderstanding going on in the immigration debate.  Truth ABOUT Immigrants  educates the public about the net positive impact of immigration through research-based economic analysis, exposing myths and providing facts and human stories.  The campaign has put forward a framework for policy solutions that is good for everyone.

Truth ABOUT Immigrants builds its base of support to include non-traditional, non-immigrant allies.  That is why the network expands beyond immigrants and beyond New York City—to build statewide support, including residents upstate and on Long Island, in the African American community, within faith communities, and among young people.  We work with this broader network to recognize areas of mutual concern, address areas of tension or misunderstanding, and bring people together around solutions that unify and strengthen us all.

The main outreach method is through workshops and conversations because we believe in the power of real people having a real dialogue.

The multi-media campaign produced videos, fact, sheets, reports, and talking points and then distributed them via flash-drives to hundreds of groups in the state and around the country. These groups got this information into the public sphere by holding presentations, rallies, and press conferences as well as providing commentary and research to the mainstream media.

The campaign garnered significant media coverage and proved to be a powerful counterweight to the misinformation and xenophobia coming out of media coverage of the immigration debate.
